Daily Pet Log

Connecting an assistant

Daily Pet Log can be connected to an AI assistant, so you can ask it things about your pets — how many times did Pudding go out yesterday? — or log something by saying so rather than tapping it in.

Setting this up happens inside the assistant, not in our app. The assistant asks for an address, and this is ours:

https://mcp.dailypetlog.com

That address grants nothing on its own. Pasting it only tells the assistant where we are; you are then sent to a sign-in page that lists what it is asking to do, and where you choose which of your households it may see. Nothing is shared until you agree there.

Claude

  1. Open Claude at claude.ai, or the desktop app.
  2. Go to Settings, then Connectors.
  3. Choose to add a custom connector, and paste the address.
  4. Sign in to Daily Pet Log and choose which households Claude may see.

ChatGPT

Custom connectors need a paid ChatGPT plan. They are not available on the free tier.

  1. Open ChatGPT at chatgpt.com.
  2. Go to Settings, then Connectors.
  3. Choose to add a connector, and paste the address.
  4. Sign in to Daily Pet Log and choose which households ChatGPT may see.

Menu names move — these are other companies' products and they change them. If the wording does not match, look for whatever is called connectors, integrations, or MCP servers.

What it can do

The assistant asks for some of these when you connect, and the sign-in page lists which before you agree.

An assistant connected by somebody who only has caretaker access to a household sees exactly what that person sees and no more. The limits are enforced on our server, not politely requested of the assistant.

Disconnecting

In the app: Settings → Assistants, and disconnect it. Access stops immediately, and the assistant's next request fails. Connecting again means granting it again.

The same screen lists what is connected, what each one was allowed, which households it covers, and when it was last used.

What we send

Only what the assistant asks for within what you granted. Once it has that, what its operator does with it is governed by their privacy policy rather than ours — which is worth reading before connecting one, and is the same bargain as any other place you paste your own information. We do not use your records to train anything. See the privacy policy.
